A beheaded man’s corpse is discovered in Tokyo, cut with an impossibly sharp blade but mysteriously bloodless. Young reporter Sanjo Mio, investigating the case, witnesses a plume of black dust erupting from the wound—visible only to her. She learns that Osagami Kakeru, a “blade master,” and Iotsu Sho also perceive this “filth.” Kakeru is on a dangerous mission to destroy “filth blades,” sinister weapons forged from human evil that corrupt their wielders. However, each blade neutralized brings Kakeru closer to being consumed by the very filth he fights to eradicate.
