Osaka Aoi, a top student and third-year member of the calligraphy club, failed the early entrance exam for a national university, which she was expected to pass. At the lowest point of despair, a classmate and member of the basketball club, Murase Tasuku, called out to her. He also applied to the law faculty like Aoi, but failed. His last chance to pass the exam is the second exam in three days, but the only subject is the essay, and only ten students are allowed to pass, making it a narrow gate. Having not done any preparation for the essay, Aoi was completely unready to retake the exam.
However, for some reason, Tasuku persistently encourages Aoi, who is in a resigned mood. He tries to introduce Aoi to Sayama Gaku, a Japanese teacher who is also the advisor of the basketball club, so that they can study the essay together. Aoi gradually begins to think that Tasuku's clever words of invitation have a point. Aoi is a quiet, unassuming type, while Tasuku is a bright, popular guy. These two polar opposites decide to take part in an intensive joint second-term exam preparation course…
