Apprentice Matchmaker Tong Ling encounters skilled swordswoman Lin Yi Yue when she's forced by an elder to visit the Matchmaker's Temple. As a female constable, Yi Yue would rather devote her time and energy to catching criminals than marry a man and so she runs away from the Temple.
Having felt a wisp of familiar power from her, Tong Ling realizes Yi Yue might have had something to do with his own sudden loss of magic three years ago. As he sticks close to Yi Yue under the pretense of helping her solve a mysterious case, Tong Ling realizes that, like him, she, too, has no memories of events that occurred three years ago.
What is this inexplicable link between them? Is it a mere coincidence that there is a sudden rise in cases of people becoming possessed just as the two of them meet? Who is behind the mystery surrounding the events that happened three years ago?
